In case of emergency, what can I do with my pets?

You just customize your basic emergency kit to add in the items that could need. If you have pets or service animal, think about including food, water and medication for your animals. During an emergency situation, no matter if you decide to stay home or go to a safer place, you will need a plan to take care of your pets. If you must proceed to an evacuation, bring your pets with you as long as it’s possible. However, if you go to a public shelter, remember that not all place accept animals (with the exception of assistance animals). Plan in advance other shelter possibilities where your animals could be accepted. Prepare a rescue plan in case you would not be able to take care of your pets yourself. Put in place a twinning system with your neighbors, friends and family in order to make sure someone is available to take care of your pets or evacuate if you aren’t able to do so.
