Emergency kit for the car

If you have a car, prepare an emergency kit for the car and leave it there. The basic car emergency kit includes the following articles :
- Food non perishable (like energy bars)
- Water – in plastic bottles so that they don’t break in case of freezing (replace each six months)
- Blanket
- Back-up clothes and shoes
- First-aid kit – containing a knife to cut seatbelts
- Small shovel, scraper and snowbrush
- Candle in a deep can and matches
- Wind–up flashlight
- Whistle – to draw attention
- Roadmaps
- Copy of your emergency plan and personal documents
In your car trunk :
- Sand, salt or cat litter (non clumping)
- Antifreeze/windshield washer fluid
- Tow rope
- Jumper cables
- Fire extinguisher
